Universal Civil Service at the Gonzaga Campus. Selection of 160 young people. Applications by April 8th. Webinar scheduled for Wednesday, March 18th at 3:00 PM
PALERMO - Social activities for migrants, for young people from the suburbs, but also cultural and socio-educational promotion in schools. This is what the Universal Civil Service provides for, for young people aged 18 to 28 (not yet 29). The 12 entities in the network, coordinated by the Gonzaga Campus, will welcome 160 young people. In particular, for one year, a rich educational experience will be offered that will allow them to acquire skills that can be used in the world of work through tutoring, to earn university credits and a score valid in public competitions. The service, which can also be redeemed for pension purposes, provides for a monthly remuneration (519.40 euros).
The applications for participation must be received by 2:00 PM on April 8th. To have more information on the civil service projects, a webinar is scheduled for Wednesday, March 18th, at 3:00 PM (online on the Zoom platform). During the webinar, the projects, the entities with the available locations and the application methods will be presented. To participate, you need to register on the website, in the section dedicated to the Civil Service https://gonzagacampus.it/scu-2026
On the website it is possible to find information on the methods of submitting the application and consult the summary sheets of all the projects with the activities planned in each location. The four projects proposed by the network are: It's Child's Play, Shared Horizons, Heading for the Future and The Future is Ours. These, financed with the ordinary call for proposals, have a reserve of places dedicated to young people with fewer opportunities who have a low income (ISEE equal to or less than 15 thousand euros).
The activities in which young people will be involved are: educational, school tutoring, support for the learning of minors with special educational needs, recreational, sports, artistic, cultural, intercultural and social communication. To these are added those of: cultural animation, job orientation for young people, inclusion and integration of migrants, conservation of artistic heritage and care of libraries.
The network is coordinated by the Gonzaga Campus which will offer 55 young people an experience in the field of formal and informal education for young people of the Italian School, the International School Palermo and the Polisportiva. Among the 12 entities, there is the Pedro Arrupe Institute which is active in socio-cultural training and the Centro Astalli which is involved in projects for migrants. In addition to these, there are: the Arces association with interdisciplinary training projects, the Al Azis social cooperative with educational and socio-labor processes in the Danisinni district, the Addiopizzo association with legality projects, the San Francesco Saverio association dedicated to the promotion of the cultural heritage of the museum and the Church of the Gesù in Casa Professa, the Parsifal cooperative with social projects in the San Lorenzo district and the Lievito association which operates in the ZEN area. To these are added the Collegio S. Ignazio of Messina with its socio-educational paths and the Canossian schools of Catania and Aci Bonaccorsi for minors from the historic center and the suburbs.
“Inside the Campus, I am dedicating myself to young high school students - says Alessio Misseri, 22 years old, who studies economics and finance -. This experience is making me learn new things and it is an opportunity to grow". "I take care of the front-office of the reception - continues Silvia Modica, 20 years old, who studies law at Lumsa -. In particular, since there is an international school, I am getting to know young people from different cultures. I am also developing the ability to problem solve which I think will help me in life". “I am in the communication and marketing office of the campus - added Salvo Pirrello, 28 years old, who studied communication sciences - where I am putting my studies into practice. Being in contact with different people is, certainly, expanding my knowledge".
“Together with the network of 12 associations, we want to give young people the opportunity to express themselves - said p.Vitangelo Denora, general manager of the Gonzaga Campus - in a land rich in talents and skills that are not always valued. The Civil Service is, therefore, a good training ground so that young people can grow, experimenting in the educational and social field. Furthermore, it can allow them to translate into the future, in their work experience, what are the dreams that pass through the service dedicated to others. In this difficult historical moment, it should be further emphasized that the future of humanity lies mainly in service to others and certainly not in violence and war".
The 12 entities involved in the network are: Gonzaga Campus and Polisportiva Gonzaga, Istituto Pedro Arrupe, Centro Astalli Palermo, ARCES association, Al Azis social cooperative, AddioPizzo, San Francesco Saverio association, Parsifal, Lievito, Collegio S. Ignazio di Messina and Canossian Schools of Catania and Aci Bonaccorsi.
