Interactive and Digital Teaching
For some years the Gonzaga Campus has been engaged in the network project called “IT@S” (Information Technology at School) with a triple value: pedagogical, didactic and organizational.
Under the pedagogical aspect, the purpose is to promote a critical education with the students, that enables them to use new technologies in a conscious and constructive way, drawing the best of what they can offer, also aware of potentially harmful and negative uses.
Under the didactic aspect, the Campus promotes the adoption of technological tools to encourage a meaningful learning, thus allowing a more effective implementation of the “Ignatian method”, stimulating students’ curiosity and active participation in all phases of teaching activity (praelectio, lectio and repetitio).
Teachers, supported by some figures expressly identified (IT@S leader), are encouraged to an increasingly intensive use of new technologies in their daily didactics, and to test, evaluate and share new methods and activities to propose to the students.
Lastly, from an organizational point of view, the Campus is engaged in the adoption and in the increasingly integrated use of technological tools to promote communication, transparency and data sharing, as well as the exchange of information between management office, administrative offices, teachers, families, students and institutions.
To achieve these goals, the Campus has an adequate technological network (Wi-Fi is available all around the campus), a multimedia equipment for teaching purposes (IWB in all the classes from Kindergarten to High School and modern computer classrooms) iPads and tablets for the students (from Primary to High School) and promotes projects for research and development of an active didactics that uses all the available resources through the world wide web.
The Campus also pays particular attention to the aspects of “media education” and in particular the safety, prevention of the risks of web surfing and the use of social networks. This is why it carries out annual initiatives of awareness-raising, training and prevention of cyberbullying phenomena, involving students, teachers and families, also in cooperation with the Postal Police.
