Centro Astalli Palermo is a volunteer association that is part of the local Jesuit Refugee Service network in Italy. Its guiding spirit is the defense of rights, integration, and inclusion for non-EU immigrants, refugees, and asylum seekers.
The goal of this program is to raise awareness about the conditions of migrants, refugees, and asylum seekers through direct service and encounters with both foreign nationals and Centro Astalli staff. Thanks to the invaluable dedication of volunteer teachers and several interns, migrants study Italian to improve their language skills and pass the exams required to obtain a residence permit.
FSL participants will support the teaching activities of the volunteer instructors. They will also assist with administrative tasks and lead Civic Education lessons, for which they will receive proper training guided by an external tutor and using materials provided by the Center.
